Mark will start Saturday night's Budweiser
Shootout from outside of Row
5 after selecting the 10th spot at the annual Budweiser Shootout draw
function Thursday night at Daytona International Speedway. The Shootout
will be Mark's debut in the No. 01 U.S. Army Chevrolet.
"Well, it really doesn't matter where you start, just where you finish,"
said Mark. "Actually the Shootout is a lot of fun, because second place
means nothing and everyone just kind of goes for broke and the win. It's
always an exciting event, and this year it's even more exciting for us,
because it's our first race with Ginn Racing and our first race representing
the U.S. Army. Maybe we can take that No. 01 car to Victory Lane in our
first event. That sure would be big for all of us."
In addition to his debut with Ginn Racing, Mark will make his record
extending 19th consecutive start in the all-star race, dating back to
1989. He made his first start in the event on Feb. 7, 1982. He won the
event in 1999.
Dale Jarrett drew the pole for the event, which will feature 21 cars in
the 70-lap race on the 2.5-mile oval.
The Shootout teams will have two practice sessions today -- at 4:15 -
5 p.m. and 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday night's Bud Shootout will be televised on FOX, beginning with
a prerace show at 8 p.m. ET.
