"It's nice to finally have a good finish to talk about
this week. We weren't the fastest car, but I could see
the front of the field. I think we were very
competitive all night, especially once the sun went
down. I knew the track would tighten up so we could get
the car pretty loose. The track was too slick as long
as the sun was out. We've worked really hard all year
and it amazes me that this was only our second top-five
finish of the season. Jeff Burton and Frank Stoddard
had a great run and I congratulate them. Kurt Busch
also did a fantastic job finishing 12th.
I'm looking forward to the next month of racing. All of
the four tracks we run at in June are really good
tracks for us. We run well at Dover, Michigan, Pocono
and Sears Point, and we've won at each of those tracks
except Pocono. We've come close to winning there, but
have never quite got it done. I really look forward to
Sears Point since we don't get to go road racing very
often.
It feels like a short week since I didn't come home
from Charlotte until Monday and leave for Dover
tomorrow. There is always so much to get done in a
short amount of time. We're going quarter-midget
racing tonight with Matt. I can see him improve every
week and it means so much to me to be able to help him
now.
We're taking the same car we ran at Bristol to Dover
this weekend. The guys had to rebuild some of it since
we got caught up in Jeff Burton's wreck at Bristol,
but it should be as good as new".
