Dale Jarrett may be the reigning Winston
Cup champion, but he is not role model material.
Last year, he defended his crew chief for using vulgar language
on a live broadcast. Now he stands in victory lane and admits
he lied to Mark Martin. I agree with Jack Rousch. Had the
been reversed, Mark would have kept his word, even if it
meant he might not win.
Jarrett, however, saw his opportunity and made the move to his
advantage. Shame on Jeff Burton, too, for drafting with Jarrett
instead of his own teammate., who has done so much for him.
Our 11 year-old grandson watches every race. I am glad to say
his hero is Mark Martin. NASCAR is the only sport we watch as a family
due in part to the fact that most all of the people involved show
integrity and honor on and off the track. It's a shame greed
causes some drivers to dishonor their word, especially to
the nicest guy on the track who races everyone clean and
says nothing bad about any other driver, even when it's
deserved.
Here's to Mark, a true example of what a champion really is.
