Mark lined up 21st in his No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet and
improved to finish 16th. Mark now ranks
12th in the driver standings.
Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mark took advantage a relatively caution-free
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event on Sunday at Michigan International Speedway to score
finishes in the top 16.
Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Job Skills Chevrolet, finished fourth after starting
the 400-mile event in sixth. This is Gordon's sixth top-five finish of the season and his third
straight at Michigan. Gordon remains seventh in the driver standings.
Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet, followed his teammate to capture the sixth position
and remain sixth in the driver standings. While this is Johnson's ninth top-10 finish of the season,
it is his first in the last five races at Michigan. In June 2008, Johnson also crossed the
finish line in sixth.
Earnhardt started 27th and steered his No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Chevrolet to a seventh-place
finish. Earnhardt, who won this event in 2008, cracked the top 10 within the first 60 laps and held
on for the top-10 finish. He improves two spots to 14th in the driver standings.
