Crew Chief of the #6 Viagra Jimmy Fennig began racing on the dirt tracks of Wisconsin in 1970 and spent 19 years with the Midwestern Dirt and Asphalt Series before taking his first Winston Cup job in 1984 with DiGard Racing. The chemistry between Fennig and Mark Martin began in 1985, when Fennig became Martin's crew chief in the ASA series. Together, they won a championship in 1986 and accumulated nine wins and 13 poles in only two seasons. At the end of the 1986 season, Fennig returned to Winston Cup racing with Bobby Allison and Stavola Brothers Racing. As crew chief with Allison, Fennig won two Winston Cup races and helped Dick Trickle win the 1989 Rookie of the Year title. In 1990, Fennig joined Bobby Allison Motorsports and remained there until coming to Roush Racing in October 1996. In 1997, the chemistry between Martin and Fennig ignited. Martin recorded four wins, 16 top fives, 24 top-10s and three poles. Fennig earned a share of the 1997 Busch Pole Award, as well as the Plasti-Kote Quality Finish Award and the RCA Pit Strategy Award. In 1998, Martin and Fennig recorded a record seven victories together. It was the most Martin or Fennig had ever won in a season. They continued their winning ways in 1999 with two victories and one pole, which resulted in a third-place finish in the point standings. Last year, they earned one win and finished eighth in the points.
