Mark Asks Some Tough Questions

August 15, 2001
Mark made a special trip to New York City last Thursday on his way Mark asks tough questions to Watkins Glen to be a celebrity panelist on ESPN's 2minute DRILL. Luckily, Mark only had to ask sports trivia questions rather than answer them.

"I don't know how those contestants know so much about different sports," said Mark, driver of the No. 6 Viagraâ (sildenafil citrate) Taurus. "I don't know anything about any sport outside of racing. All of my questions in the first round were related to Winston Cup racing so I thought they were easy. The questions I had in the second round could be about anything, so I didn't know any of those answers. I wasn't entirely sure how to pronounce some of the names in the second round of questions, let alone answer questions about them. I was glad to be on the side of the desk I was on."

Other athletes on the panel included former Los Angeles Laker Kurt Rambis, former relief pitcher Dennis Eckersley and NFL Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris. The show will air on Monday, October 1 at 7 p.m. (EDT) on ESPN.

"It was fun since I had never done anything like that before," Mark said. "The other panelists were all very nice guys and I enjoyed the opportunity to meet them. I didn't know who any of them were before I met them, but it was interesting to share stories before the show about what is similar and what is different in our sports. Neither of the contestants on the show that day liked racing, so they probably weren't thrilled to see me in the first round.

"I'm glad I don't have to make my living by going on game shows as a contestant, or my family would probably starve to death."
