Here's a little news for you:
MARK TO TEST AT LVMS:
A number of NASCAR teams and drivers will be
testing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway next week. Mark Martin's Winston Cup
team will test at the track on Monday, Jan. 29 and Tuesday, Jan. 30. Also
testing on Monday and Tuesday will be Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Terry
Labonte, Jerry Nadeau, Kurt Busch and others. The LVMS grandstands will be
open to the public free of charge throughout the week (testing wraps up on
Friday).
NEW MERCHANDISE A WINNER:
Roush Sports Group is completely stocked with
all of the new Mark Martin merchandise for the 2001 racing season. Sales
began in time for Christmas season on JR's Garage, Roush's new online
store, and two trackside trailers will be stocked and ready to go to
Daytona in February.
There is a great selection of both Viagra ® (sildenafil citrate) and
Pfizer hats, t-shirts and accessories for the entire family. This year,
the official team/winner's circle hats are available exclusively through
JR's Garage. These are the same hats Mark and the team will wear on race
weekends. They also have the official uniform jacket in stock.
Orders are currently being taken for the 2001 Team Caliber diecast cars.
The Viagra diecast will be in stock by Feb. 15 and the Pfizer diecast will
be in stock by the end of March.
"I am so pleased with the quality and look of all of the new merchandise,"
Mark said. "When I saw the samples last fall, I immediately put an order
in for several of the hats and shirts. My family and friends have been
after me all winter to get them new stuff. It all looks great and I really
hope the fans think it is as cool as I do. I noticed there were already a
lot of fans with new merchandise at the Winston Preview a few weeks ago.
There should be something for everyone's taste at the trailers in Daytona."
Merchandise for Mark and all of the Roush drivers can be purchased
online at www.roushracing.com, or through the JR's Garage customer service
center at (888) 332-9700.
NEW SMYRNA TRACK GRAND OPENING ON FEB. 7:
A reminder: Mark and about a dozen other Winston Cup
stars will be on hand for the grand
opening of the New Smyrna (Fla.) Quarter Midget Raceway on Feb. 7. For
complete information about the events surrounding the track's grand
opening, visit www.newsmyrnaqmra.com.
NO IROC FOR MARK IN 2001:
The official entry list for the 2001 IROC
series does not include four-time champ Mark. The field of 12
announced by IROC includes Gil de Ferran and Kenny Brack from CART, Buddy
Lazier, Eddie Cheever, Scott Goodyear and Mark Dismore from the IRL, and
Bobby Labonte, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Burton, Dale Jarrett, Ricky Rudd and
Jeff Green from NASCAR. According to sources close to IROC, they chose to
select the top five in points in Winston Cup and then extend invitations
to more open-wheel racers. (In recent years, participation in the series
has been dominated by stock-car drivers.) As a result, Mark did not
receive an invitation.
